Mandwa used to be a lesser known rustic village until the ferry point was established in Mandwa connecting Mumbai to the Alibaug beaches. With the ferry to Alibaug coming into existence the travel time and distance from Mumbai to Alibaug reduced to less than an hour making Alibaug ideal even as a one day picnic destination. Mandwa is the northern region of Alibaug and the ferry wharf to Mumbai is also located in Mandwa.

Nagaon with its unending stretch of soft sandy beach with Suru trees lining its edges is one of the finest beaches amongst the Alibaug beaches. Though this beach is an ideal destination to just laze around, Nagaon is slowly establishing itself as a destination for water sports enthusiasts. You will find jet skies motor boats and many other water rides in Nagaon. Parasailing is also very popular here

Located 18 kms from Alibaug on the Alibaug-Rewas Road, is the Karmakar Museum where sculptors made by Late Mr. Nanasaheb Karmarkar are displayed in his own bunglow. There about 150 beautifully carved sculptures displayed here

The exhibition is open the whole day throughout the week and entry fee is Rs.5/-
