Nagaon

Nagaon is a small hamlet set close to Alibaug with a beautiful beach. The beach at Nagaon is predominantly a sandy beach unlike most other beaches here in Alibaug. Nagaon is a vast expanse of flat beach with soft fine mixture of white and black sand. Nagaon is a safe beach for a dip in the water and one can walk a long distance into the sea. The afforested area around the Nagaon beach is very romantic.

9 kms. from Nagaon across Revdanda Bridge is the beautiful Birla temple within the Vikram Ispat premises. The towering dome built in white granite is visible from a long distance. Situated on a small hillock, you can walk up to the temple over well-paved stairs. The prayer hall is open on all sides and a transparent roof. The temple has idols of Shree Radha-Krishnna, Shree Shiv-Parvati, Goddess Druga and Lord Surya

About 15 kilometers from Kashid is the Korlai fort and lighthouse. Built by the Portugese the Korlai fort has three inscriptions within the fort. Over one of the inscriptions surmounted by a cross is a coat of arms with a shield, the Portuguese star in the center surrounded by seven castles. The other inscriptions, one over the chief entrance, and one in the chapel, are worn out and unreadable.
