Around Ganpatipule

In Ganpatipule there are secluded beaches right from Jaigad to Ratnagiri seperated from each other only by rocky cliffs. The beaches are largely white sand with slight mix of fine black sand in places. The only beach with shops and shacks near by is the Ganpatipule beach near the Ganpatipule temple. There are a few resorts also located right on the beach slightly away from the Ganpatipule temple. Other prominent beaches are Malgund, Aare-Waare and Ril beach

The 17th century Jaigad fort about 15 KMs from Ganapatipule offer some beautiful sea views especially during evenings. Now in ruins Jaigad Fort is a perfect place to have a picnic perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of River Sangameshwar and the arabian sea. Karhateshwar Devsthan is near the Jaigad Fort. The temple is of wooden structure, built on the slopes of a hill .

Keshavsut Memmorial is a delight for a person intersted in Marathi literature. The house of the great Marathi Poet Keshavsut is preserved in Malgund as a monument 2 Kms from Ganpatipule. You can visit the room where the great poet was born. Behind this house there is a gallery giving information of all great Marathi Poets and a library with a reading hall with some of the rare books of the poet.
