Trek Route to Harishchandragad

There about seven trek routes to Harishchandragad. The main routes are Khireshwar via Tolar Khind, Rajmarga via Kalshya dongar, and Belpada route which is the most difficult route via Nalichi wat. The trek route to Harishchandragad via Sadhle ghat route is a steep climb via Kelewadi. Pachnai route is the simplest route to Harishchandragad. From Pachnai village, a comparatively simpler trek leads to the top of the Harishchandragad fort.

The Nageshwar temple and caves are near the Khireshwar village beleived to be from the 11th century. Earlier the temple was called Khindeshwar which was later changed to Nageshwar. The Nageshwar temple is about 1 kilometer from Khireshwar on the Harishchandragad trek route. There are a few caves around the temple, the Kedareshwar cave is further ahead near the Harishchandreshwar temple.

Taramati peak at a height of 4695ft is the highest point on the Harishchandragad fort. In fact Yaramati is the second higest point in Maharashra second only to Kalsubai in the same range. Located atop the Harishchandragad Plateau, Tarmati peak offers one of the most beaitiful view of the Malshej and harishchandragad range of hills provided the visibility is good.
